Scott was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He has earned Bachelor
degrees in Physics and Mathematics, as well as Masters degrees in both Astrophysics and
Computer Science. Professionally, he has worked with the Hubble Space Telescope project, the
James Webb Space Telescope Project, and currently as a modeling/simulation engineer at the
Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory.
He is a self-taught artist and writer, and he has had no formal training in photography.
His art photography concentrates primarily on film-based pinhole photography, most notably of
architectures and landscapes, along with some portrait work. He also enjoys photography
using lenses, on both large format film cameras and digital single lens reflex cameras.
He lives and works in the Baltimore/DC area, and, in addition to enjoying doing his own art, he
is available to do art photography by commission, as well as to give slide presentations
on pinhole photography to groups and clubs.
Scott has been published in print-based books, electronic books, magazines,
and blogs, and he has been interviewed for his photography. He shows his work at
exhibitions, and his art has been purchased by enthusiasts and photography art collectors.
Prints of his art photography are available by following links on his website, and his primary
email address for written correspondence is scott_speck@yahoo.com.
