Spock

Spock was huge -- six inches long,
motionless and starkly green
on blood red leaves,
more angular than locust,
more erect than dragonfly,
with two great unblinking eyes
atop an armored wedge
that followed every move.

Spock was living death --
daggered forelegs folded,
as in prayer,
two pairs of great brown wings,
four spiked legs
on which she strode with ease
across a spider's web.
Her grip was iron,
her jaws sharp as knives,
dismembering spiders, hornets, wasps,
giant juicy locusts --
legs first, wings second,
then a feast, like lightning,
upon her sexaplegic prey.
