This Would Be Us

on our next trip to the beach,
walking barefoot in the sand,
feeling the warm top
and cool damp underneath
- the opposite of you.

This would be us:
walking through life,
your hand in mine
and mine in yours,
reminding ourselves
and the world around us
that love is forever
and we will never part.

This would be us:
for time forever -
forward and back,
love's form in infinity
the sharing of hands.
